Don't get me wrong, I LOVE amusement parks. But there are just so many things wrong with them! First of all, the tickets are WAY overpriced. I remember I used to be able to get a years pass to Disneyland for 99 dollars, and now if you want a years pass it's anywhere from 400 dollars to 1000 dollars. And a day pass is over 100.
It's the same with Six Flags. I used to go to Hurricane Harbor a lot during the summer, but just going for a day is 40 dollars now. Like, seriously? There are only like 8 rides. The Magic Mountain near me has gotten super expensive too. It's just crazy how much they charge for just a few hours of fun.
The food is way overpriced too. I was at Hurricane Harbor about a week ago, and a single scoop of ice cream was 6 DOLLARS. I could buy a whole tub of ice cream at the store for that much. And Magic Mountain is even worse. I was at a restaurant where they had a turkey sandwich for ten bucks. TEN DOLLARS FOR BREAD AND MEAT. There was no sauces, no lettuce, no tomatoes, no cheese, just bread and turkey. For ten dollars.
But Disneyland is THE WORST when it comes to food. Just a bag of chips can be up to 8 dollars. I could buy a bag of chips at the store for fifty cents! And then they also have cotton candy. A small is 6 dollars, and a large is 8 dollars. I mean, seriously. It's just sugar. The ingredients are sugar, air, and food coloring. And it's 8 dollars.
Amusement parks are also sooo crowded. It's hard to walk around without holding on to the person you're with, because you might lose them. And then people will just randomly stop walking to check a map or something while you're behind them. "AHEM, CAN YOU MOVE?"
The lines are super long too. It's gotten to the point where I can only go to theme parks on school days, because Saturdays and Sundays are just TORTURE. Take, for example, Twisted Colossas. I mean, I get it. It's a fun ride. It's over 4 minutes long, with twists and turns, and it's the worlds longest hybrid coaster, and it's wood and steel. I GET IT. But I still don't think that it's worth waiting in line 3 HOURS for. The only reason I ever got to ride on it was because I BOUGHT the special 'get in the park ten minutes before it opens' ticket, and even ten minutes before the park opened, the line was still an hour long. It's impossible.
But the worst is at Disneyland. It doesn't matter WHAT ride you go on, it's always going to be 40+ minutes. I could get in line for Peter Pan (which is SUPER BORING) and it would still be over an hour wait time.
I also don't like it when amusement parks 'theme' their attractions. I went to Six Flags Fright Fest last night, which is supposed to be all spooky and stuff, but I didn't know the actual COASTERS were going to be themed. I went on Batman, and there were zombies coming at me! I mean, WHERE'S BATMAN? IT'S BATMANS RIDE. DID THE ZOMBIES KILL HIM OR SOMETHING?
Well, that's all for now. I love amusement parks. But I hate them at the same time.
